IRIS Air & Noise
The Problem
Indoor air quality (IAQ) is a growing concern across all sectors in the UK, affecting health, productivity and well-being. One major challenge is poor ventilation in older buildings, particularly in homes, offices and schools, leading to the accumulation of pollutants such as carbon dioxide (CO₂), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and particulate matter (PM). In healthcare settings, controlling airborne infections remains a priority, yet outdated ventilation systems can contribute to the spread of diseases.
The commercial sector faces difficulties balancing energy efficiency with adequate air circulation, as modern airtight buildings can trap pollutants. In industrial environments, workers are exposed to dust, chemicals and fumes, impacting respiratory health. The education sector struggles with maintaining air quality in overcrowded classrooms, affecting students’ concentration and performance.
Moreover, rising outdoor pollution exacerbates indoor air problems, with vehicle emissions and construction dust infiltrating buildings. Climate change also influences IAQ, as extreme weather events increase humidity and mould growth. Despite growing awareness, there is inconsistent regulation and a lack of enforcement on IAQ standards across sectors. Investment in air monitoring, filtration systems and improved ventilation is essential to tackling these challenges and safeguarding public health.
The Iris Air & Noise Sensor

Hardware
Manufactured in the UK – Using the latest technology this device has up to 11 sensors measuring all aspects of your environment (sensor list in product description). All sensors are configurable as per project needs.
Reporting Platform
Our reporting software reports by graphics indicating good and bad air quality. Within the platform we have actionable alerting to SMS and Email for immediate action.
Data
All Data is stored securely in the UK with no overseas traffic. If you need your data direct to your own BMS we can facilitate this with our Open API structure allowing seamless transfer.
The Solution

Here at IRIS IoT Solutions, we have developed an advanced air quality sensing device that integrates 11 distinct sensors to provide comprehensive monitoring of indoor environments . We manufacture these devices in the UK, ensuring high-quality production standards.
The sensors utilise Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) technology for efficient data transmission, offering advantages such as low power consumption and extended battery life.
This connectivity ensures reliable data communication, even in challenging indoor environments.
IRIS IoT Solutions commitment to UK-based manufacturing and advanced sensor integration positions their air quality sensing device as a valuable tool for enhancing indoor environmental quality across various sectors.
Indoor Temperature
Measures ambient indoor temperatures to ensure optimal comfort and energy efficiency.
Outdoor Temperature
Captures external temperature data, facilitating comparisons and aiding in HVAC system optimisation.
Humidity
Monitors moisture levels to prevent mould growth and maintain occupant comfort.
CO₂ (Carbon Dioxide)
Detects CO₂ concentrations, which can indicate ventilation effectiveness and occupant density.
Air Pressure
Assesses atmospheric pressure, contributing to weather pattern analysis and indoor environment assessment.
Sound
Measures noise levels, helping to maintain acoustically comfortable spaces.
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC)
Identifies the presence of airborne chemicals from sources like paints and cleaning agents.
Particulate Matter (PM) Sensors
Includes PM1.0, PM2.5, PM4.0, and PM10 sensors to detect various particle sizes, from fine particles that penetrate deep into the lungs to larger dust particles.
